OVERVIEW:

WUSC and its consortium partner, Canadian Leaders in International Consulting (CLIC), are implementing the Women’s Economic Linkages and Employment Development (WE LEAD) project in Jordan. WE LEAD, a project funded by Global Affairs Canada aims to increase women’s empowerment for sustainable economic growth; this will be achieved through activities focusing on women’s employment by businesses and the reduction of gender-specific barriers to women entering into and remaining in the workforce. The WE LEAD project is being implemented over a period of four years, from March 7, 2017, to March 31, 2021, in three locations (East Amman, Irbid and Salt) in Jordan.

The project is seeking to recruit an experienced volunteer Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor will contribute toward ensuring that the project has a robust monitoring and evaluation system for women’s economic empowerment and gender equality efforts. He/she will be a core member of the WE LEAD Project Team, working as a technical resource to develop tools and resources, as well as capacity development (training and coaching) to team members and local partners.

More specifically, the M&E Advisor will work closely with the CLIC M&E Manager and the WE LEAD MEL Office in preparing annual and quarterly M&E activity plans, designing and delivering training to staff and partners, conducting monitoring and evaluation activities, gathering data, developing and applying M&E tools, and contributing to analysis and report writing.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the WE LEAD team to monitor activities and collect the necessary data to assess results;
  • Support the MEL officer while providing coaching and workshop sessions on M&E to local partners to better monitor and assess the results of their activities and interventions
  • Work closely with the CLIC M&E Manager and the MEL Officer to ensure that the M&E plan is being adhered to and implemented in a timely manner;
  • Work closely with MEL officer to ensure that the PMF targets are being met through the project activities and interventions;
  • Contribute to assessments , analysis of results and report writing/editing
  • Prepare and deliver presentations of key findings to the team, partners and other key stakeholders and contribute to the required donor reports;
  • Collaborate regularly with the Gender Equality Officer to include a gender perspective in all M&E work
  • Develop a monitoring and documentation system to M&E Record, files and sheets;
  • Provide formal and informal training and mentorship to staff in monitoring and evaluation;
  • Work with the MEL Officer to develop monitoring and evaluation tools relevant to the project activities and indicators;
  • Participate in and contribute to meetings with CLIC and WUSC M&E Advisors and the MEL Officer
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by Country Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree and/or formal training in monitoring and evaluation, international development, social sciences or a related discipline;
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Proven data collection and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of gender equality and inclusion
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an intercultural environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience designing and delivering capacity-building activities and coaching sessions
  • International development experience is a strong asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Middle East is an asset

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada between the age of 18-70.
  • Departure date is contingent upon the timely completion of all administrative requirements (e.g. visa processes, medical clearance, police checks, travel documentation).
  • With the support of the program, all volunteers shall undertake to make a minimum financial contribution of $1,500 for participating in the program.
